Julian's dynamic walking tours blend story telling, profound knowledge, humour and inspiration into an unforgettable experience.

Drawing on the insider knowledge of a Jerusalemite, Julian brings to brilliant life some of the city's most picturesque neighbourhoods and uplifting locations

What People are Saying:

"This was an incredibly interesting and relevant experience that could go a long way to bridge the perceptions North Americans have of the gap between religious and secular in Israel."

Jay Rosen, Birthright Educators' program.

"I thought the tour was great! I really loved how you brought the characters and the development of Tel Aviv to life."

Jill, Pardes Institute.

"I found the tour both extremely interesting from a historical perspective and totally relevant to my life."

Marnina Herrmann, Nishmat.

"I have been taking students on tours and hikes for years, and I have never been on a tour that was as thought provoking and engaging as our walk through Neve Tzedek with you last week. The students came back inspired!"

Rabbi Joshua Weisberg, Director, Nishmat One-Year Study Program.

Julian offers custom-designed tours, whether you are

  • A first-time visitor to Israel, looking for an inspiring overview of key sites.
  • A fifty-first time visitor seeking new vistas on familiar places.
  • Planning an educational tour that will be meaningful as well as fun.

Tours include:

In Jerusalem:

  • Facts Underground. An exploration of some of the Old City's most stirring and evocative archaeological sites, including David's City, the South Kotel excavations and the Herodian Houses.
  • Hippies and Hassidim. Explore the alleyways of the beautiful neighbourhood of Nachlaot, and its rich mosaic of communities.
  • Art, Architecture and Arms-Running in British Mandate Jerusalem. We uncover some of the most fascinating neighbourhoods of the New City, and meet the towering figures who shaped it under the British mandate, against the backdrop of the struggle for statehood.

In Tel Aviv:

  • Poets, Prophets and Pioneers. Meander through the picturesque lanes of Neve Tzedek, accompanied by the great writers who lived there a hundred years ago and still set the cultural agenda for Israel today. (In conjunction with Beit Harav)
  • The Soul of Secular Israel. What gave the nascent city of Tel Aviv its extraordinary dynamism and energy? We'll explore Bauhaus architecture, and encounter the incandescent personalities such as Dizengoff, Ben Gurion and Bialik, who created the first Modern Jewish City.

In Northern Israel:

  • Journey of Dialogue. We follow in the footsteps of the remarkable journey undertaken by Rav Kook in Winter 1913 to the new-born agricultural settlements of the Galilee, a pioneering experiment in religious-secular dialogue that has profound relevance for today. Locations include Zichron Yaakov, Kinneret, Rosh Pinah and Tzefat. One or two days. (In conjunction with Beit Harav.)
